Landing the Air Marshal by Jennifer Blackwood
Book Title: Landing the Air Marshal
Series: Snowpocalypse 1
Genre: Adult, Contemporary Romance
Author: Jennifer Blackwood
Published: September 12, 2016
Purchase Book: AMAZON | BandN

Book Overview

It was meant to be a one-night stand. One wicked night with an irresistibly sexy passenger. That’s all Air Marshal Gage Michaels can afford–his career comes before everything else. Too bad the snowpocalpyse of the century has different plans for him and Abby Winters. Before the night’s over, they find themselves snowed in at the most luxurious hotel in the city.Abby’s scouting job of a NYC penthouse should be quick, simple, and definitely shouldn’t include a sexy-as-hell man messing up the 3000 count sheets that will be featured in her company’s next blockbuster hit. Not when she’s up for a promotion that could skyrocket her entire career in the film industry. Still, she can’t refuse what the weather gods so obviously want her to have. She’ll give in, just this once.

Leaving is tougher than either of them could have imagined. But they’re two people who have nothing in common, living on opposite coasts. There’s no way they can ever be together. Right?

EXCERPT

“You going to do something about that?” He nodded down to his very prevalent erection as it pressed into her stomach.
“Maybe. You stopped me before I could get going, though.” Who the hell was she, that she was completely down with sucking a guy’s cock and giving him a handy in one day? This obviously must be an illness. Sex sickness.
That was a real thing, right? It had to be, or else she’d gotten a little haphazard on washing her hands while traveling and was now infected with a brain-eating bacteria that turned her into a sex fiend. That was...less likely. Whatever it was, she couldn’t bring herself to care, because all she wanted was Gage’s hands on her, and for him to fix the need that ached between her thighs.
“And what did I say before?”
She thought for a moment, her brain still fuzzed over with must have Gage. Need now. “That you’re in charge?”
“Exactly. Let me take care of you,” he whispered in her ear.

My Review

*ARC Provided for an Honest Review*

I could've just read this in one sitting and I'm really disappointed in myself that I didn't. I felt like the short hours that I stopped reading the book made me want to squeeze myself. It was like a cute but at the same time intense book. Add the fact that their beginning was actually a real life experience only fuels my imagination that this might actually happen in real life. I mean, who wouldn't want to fall in love on air? That's like, one of the bucket lists' in maybe, about hundreds of girls around the globe.

I enjoyed the book. If you were looking for a short read HEA, like I was, then this is definitely the book you need to check in with. The hesitations and doubts were kind of annoying coming from both characters seeing as they already know that the other surely feels something for the other. But, each characters bravery to take things further, to explore and to actually take the risk at something they both know they need but don't want to want is just perfect to read over.

EXCERPT

It was no joke.
Liam had been waiting in the lobby for her at nine o'clock, sharp. Liam Edenhoff – “but everyone calls me Eden” – he'd introduced himself again to her before guiding her out to a taxi he'd had waiting.
She felt a little nauseous. She'd chugged down another half bottle of wine, and some crème de menthe, before heading downstairs to meet him. She'd almost talked herself out of going, but she'd made the mistake of telling her roommate Tori about the whole fiasco. Apparently, Katya owed it to women everywhere (and Tori in particular) to explore this opportunity to its fullest. She'd all but been shoved out the apartment, the door slammed and locked in her face.

“Nervous?” Liam Eden-whatever-his-name-was asked her as the cab slowed to a crawl.
“Nope,” Katya's voice sounded overly loud.
“Liar. Tonight is gonna be an interesting night, angel cake.”
“Stop calling me that.”
“What's your last name?”
“None of your business.”
“Okay then – when the gang bang starts, I'll tell them to call you Katya X.”
She couldn't stop the blush from happening that time. Liam burst out laughing, then soothed the sting by grabbing her hand.
Even when they got out of the cab, he didn't let go of her. Normally, she would've been uncomfortable with a stranger assuming such a familiarity with her, but this time, she was thankful for it. She held onto him tightly as they walked down a crowded street. Then they turned into an alley, and his gang bang joke didn't seem so funny. He led her to a plain door, above which a simple, small, neon sign spelled out “The Garden”. Outside were several small groups of people, chatting and smoking. Some of them called out greetings to him, all of them using his nickname, but a large and scary looking bouncer addressed him very properly.
“Hey, Mr. Edenhoff, wasn't expecting you in tonight. Any problems?”
“Nope, just bringing a friend to show her the place, let her see what I do for a living.”
All the blood was quickly rushing from Katya's limbs, pooling somewhere in her stomach. None of this was a joke. He really did own the place, that much was obvious.
As Liam led her through the door, though, Katya actually felt a surge of confidence. She was still nervous, still more than a little scared, but she was okay with it. Liam seemed like a nice guy, he wasn't going to take her into some dark room and insert foreign objects into her orifices. She could leave whenever she wanted to, whenever it got too uncomfortable. Everything was fine, and for once, she was doing something exciting. She'd een have something interesting to talk about at work the next day.
Finally.

My Review

*ARC Provided for an Honest Review*

I think I just subjected myself to feel a river of emotions with this book. I feel a shit ton of emotions right now and I don't even know how to explain all these feelings. Seriously, I feel overwhelmed and like, a cold water just dumped in my head. I had so many expectations with this book. I was even excited to get to the end and see if my guesses were right but I was thrown out of my own bus. I want to say so many things right now, like how exciting, how absolutely amazing it is to be free, how terrible it feels to be in Katya's shoes, but I don't want to be too revealing.

It was all worth it all right. I loved the book, it's characters and the story itself. It was all about self-exploration and discovering things while loving and fucking men. When I first started it, I was automatically not sure if I wanted to really dwell on how the book started or skip to a few chapters but damn, if I skip a chapter, I'd skip all the fun and all the not-so-fun. All I know is that Katya's life would never lead to where it is now if it isn't because of that app.

The author sure knows how to drop a bomb and leave me high. Until this moment, while writing this, I still feel angry and I feel like I was actually Katya, I got no freaking closure after my rights was torn away from me. I wonder how this change will turn up for her, would it be for the better or not? I just hope she goes with the man I want her to be with. I can't wait for the next book. I'm new to the author and she certainly just left a number on me.

ABOUT AUTHOR

Crazy woman from a remote location in Alaska (where the need for a creative mind is a necessity!), I have been writing since ... forever? Yeah, that sounds about right. I have been told that I remind people of Lucille Ball - I also see shades of Jennifer Saunders, and Denis Leary. So basically, I laugh a lot, I'm clumsy a lot, and I say the F-word A LOT.

I like dogs more than I like most people, and I don't trust anyone who doesn't drink. No, I do not live in an igloo, and no, the sun does not set for six months out of the year, there's your Alaska lesson for the day. I have mermaid hair - both a curse and a blessing - and most of the time I talk so fast, even I can't understand me.

Yeah. I think that about sums me up.

MY REVIEW

*ARC Provided for an Honest Review*

The ending was too cute. I mean, after everything rough and all the action that took over this book, the ending was too cute for it. To be honest, I am not very sure that if I was in Gin's place I would ever find it in me to forgive Beck. Yes, he had his reasons but I don't think it's solid enough. Also, it wasn't very emphasized in the book so I don't really think it matters but, it matters to me so much. That pain, I felt it. Just thinking about how Beck ended things with them and his reasons, it was painful.

I'm new to the author and I am satisfied with what i just read. It was a mix of love, regret, badboys and family. It was more of holding on to that something you both know you aren't supposed to let go. It was sweet and cute with a little rough on the side. Also, did I mention it was a short read? It satisfied me even more, absorbing the details in one seating.

EXCERPT

“The dress will need to come off,” I tell her with a playful smile—I want her to feel at ease.
She turns to the side and unzips herself, reaches for the skirt of her dress, and pulls it over her head. She’s wearing a sexy pink lace bra and matching thong. I wonder if she slipped those on thinking of me. Or David? I wonder how long it would take me to rip it all off. She peeks at me through her lashes, still shy but aroused. Her gaze finally reaches mine, and it’s pleading, begging me to come to her.
I kneel in front of her. I desperately want to kiss her—she’s just so beautiful. But I know that if I kiss her, I’ll get lost in her and I’ll want to make love to her. She and I together is a very bad plan. Too much history there, and even after all we’ve been through, I can only see her as Paul’s girl. But right now, she’s just a woman who desperately needs to touched, and I’m the man who desperately wants to touch her. I trace the lacy edges of her bra with my finger. She’s breathing so hard her chest is heaving. I pull the fabric with a finger and tuck it under, revealing her breast. Wow. Her nipple is pink, hard, and begging to be licked, but if I go there, I won’t be able to stop myself. I know myself too well.
She closes her eyes again, and I take her in—her soft stomach, her sexy legs. I eagerly make my way down. I stroke her thighs gently again, and she opens her legs for me. She’s arousing me so much it’s painful. I trail my hand between her thighs where she’s wet—the soft fabric, what little there is of it, is soaked.
She throws her head back, her mouth open—she’s gasping for air. Finding her wet like this and wanting to be inside her so badly, is so fucking hard on me. I try to remind myself that this isn’t about me; it’s about her. As bad as I want to do all the things to her I shouldn’t be doing, I know I can’t. I’m on a mission.
I reach for the string of her thong and tug down. I’d planned to be soft with her, but I find myself being hard. She props her rear up and her hands press against the mattress, tangled in the sheets. As I struggle with the fabric, she reaches for it and pulls the thong down with me. It’s clear that she wants it off. In that moment, I forget all about myself. All I want to do is please her and make her come.
I’ve never seen her like this. I steal a moment to savour the sight of her small patch of neatly trimmed hair and tempting pink lips. I’m so hard as I slip my finger along her wetness, slowly teasing her. I explore further, up along her sex to her sweet spot.
“Your body is yours, Amber.” I know her. I know a big chunk of guilt is probably lingering at the back of her mind, and I just want her to let go of that and enjoy the moment. “No one has a hold on it but you. It’s yours. All I want to do is to make you feel good like this. It doesn’t have to be anything more. Do you want this? If you don’t, tell me to stop, and I will.”
She lets out a cry and squirms as I pull my hand away for a second. She doesn’t need to say a single word. It’s crystal clear—she desperately wants me to make her come.
Filthy images play in my mind as I imagine all the things I would love to do to her. I’d love her legs wrapped around my head. I’d drive her wild, taking her to the edge and swiftly pulling back only to wrench her hard against me again. I’d sink into her and get completely lost in her. But I can’t do all those things, as much as I would love to. I can’t take this too far.
I’ve been cruel long enough. I’ve teased her plenty. It’s just so amazing to finally touch her. I reach for her sweet spot and feel her hard clit on the tips of my fingers. She wails and spreads her legs wider. I’ll take her over the edge in a few seconds, but I selfishly want this moment to last forever. Watching her like this—panting, a perfect breast hanging out of her delicate bra, legs spread wide for me—it’s the most gorgeous sight. I pull away from her, greedy as fuck. I want to hear her cry, to hear her beg. She winces as I pull my hand away. She opens her beautiful eyes, silently asking me why I’m being such a tease.
“Close your eyes,” I order, and she does. I don’t want her to see what I’m about to do. I close my eyes as I bring my finger to my nose and inhale her scent. It’s just as I always imagined. Then I draw my wet fingers to my mouth and taste her—so, so sweet.
“Please,” she begs. “Don’t stop.”
It’s just what I need to hear. With just another sweep or two of my fingers along her slick sex, she arches her back off the bed, opens her beautiful eyes to look at me again, and I finally make her come.
Seeing Amber, who is always so contained, so put-together, so perfect, get lost under my touch is unbelievable. The sight of her tiny hands grasping my mattress, her beautiful mouth wide open, the sweet sound of her cries bouncing off my walls—it’s almost too much. I’ve dreamed about this scenario dozens of times, and the real thing is even better than it ever was in my imagination.

MY REVIEW

*ARC Provided for an Honest Review*

Talk about a guy's true love and a chance at having it forever! There was definitely a lot of angry from me towards the heroin of this book and too much swooning for the hero. The heroine lead the hero around too much that I felt like chocking her. It isn't always that I read books like this which actually riles me up and makes me want to flip to the next two pages because I want to know what happens next asap. But every single page something entertaining happens and I rethink my rush.

What I like about this is the fact that the heroine actually recognize what the hero wants when he looks at her. There wasn't a doubt from her every time she thinks that he thinks she's beautiful. But, she's denial and bitchy. Bitchy but not in the bad kind of way, it's like a defense mechanism for her. The hero was too much for mw though. He was respectful, loyal, sweet and raw. He loved fiercely, that's for sure and that's what I admire about him most.

The love of family, friends, siblings, offspring and self was also very evident in this book. It didn't only focused on the romance part but it almost catered to every thing. I'm not sure if I've read any previous books from this author but I would really to read another one from her. I genuinely enjoyed this one.

BETWEEN CLOUDS AND STARS
Book Title: Between Clouds and Stars
Genre: Romance
Author: Sharlyn G. Branson
Published: September 21, 2016
Purchase Book: AMAZON| BandN

Book Overview

My life is perfect. I have money, power, good looks and countless women ready to do anything to get their hands on me, and my rather large package. My business brings in billions every year and my airline has the fastest airplanes in the world. In short, I have everything a man can dream of. Or so I thought until I met Estelle Klide.

The second I saw her, I decided to make her mine.

Her body was sinfully sexy. She had amazing, mesmerizing indigo eyes. Her sweet scent was the epitome of temptation and evoked images of wild, animalistic sex in my mind.

I couldn’t help but fall for her – hard. Letting her slip through my fingers was not an option.

In involving myself with her, I entered waters I’d never thought I’d have to swim in. I set off on a journey filled with mystery, fear and a lot of love.

The only thing that threatened to ruin this paradise and destroy everything, was her ex-husband, who turned out to be a real monster.

MY REVIEW

*ARC Provided for an Honest Review*

Everything kind of felt so fast paced and advanced with this book. I was honestly intrigued by Estelle's past and I was very interested on how she would come back up from it but instead I felt like her romance with Nick was kind of, rushed.

I'm not sure if I read the book too fast or if that's just how it really is but, anyhow, I wasn't very satisfied with how it turn out. I believe this is my first book from the author and I don't think I'd want this book to be my last of her.
