Book Overview

Ash

Despite everything I've done for my parents, I'll never be good enough for them. Instead of seeing a man to be proud of, they just see an embarrassment. I served four tours in Afghanistan but that doesn't mean anything to them. They only see the ink, the party life, and my short stint in jail.

And nothing else.

When they were in trouble, I handed over my life savings. I didn't think twice about it because they're my family, my blood. They raised me to be my own man and gave me everything I needed. It didn't matter that it was every penny I had. It didn't matter that the money was set aside for my future. My dreams.

Because they needed me.

But now they refuse to pay me back until I become the man they think I should be.

Alessandra

I have an unusual professional.

I escort men, acting as their date to family functions or work parties. It's my job to act deeply in love with my client. And I always nail it.

But it's not what you think.

I'm not a prostitute.

I'm not a call girl.

I'm an actress.

Get it right.

There are strict rules when it comes to my profession. There is no touching, kissing, or anything but hand-holding. Those who choose not to comply will get a swift kick in the nuts.

But all this goes to hell when Ash walks into my life.

My Review

*ARC Provided for an Honest Review*

I definitely enjoyed that. I actually think that the characters were enough to ignite the whole book. I mean, for the first time in quiet sometime I did not care about the storyline because the characters were so interesting that I completely forgot there was going to be a twist.

Ash is like completely arrogant ass! That was my first take on him. If his life story wasn't what it was I have no doubt that until the book was finished, I'd still dislike him. He was like an arrogant ass who lives a carefree life. Alessandra on the other hand is like a ball and she's too intelligent. She has an attitude too and I liked it. She's a strong character.

I have read a few from E.L. Todd before but I didn't read the books which this was supposed to be a spin-off to. I loved the book, would recommend it to everyone and as always, I expected nothing less from the author!

Excerpt

I sighed and left the bed. “You should go. I need to get ready.”

“For what?” His voice sounded raspy because we hadn’t spoken in so long.

I cringed because I didn’t want to say it. “I’m seeing Brad.” Guilt flushed through me. Was I really the kind of girl that went on a date right after I slept with someone? It grossed me out.

Ash’s eyes immediately darkened and he looked pissed. A fire erupted in his eyes, but the flames were black. “So, you’re just going to run off and have dinner with this chump?”

I didn’t want to fight so I kept my mouth shut.

He gripped me by the wrist and yanked me back into bed. “Call it off.”

“Call it off?” I asked incredulously. “I’m supposed to meet him in a little over an hour.”

“Tell him you’re sick.” He squeezed my wrist.

“I’m not bailing on him.”

“Just do it,” he ordered.

“And why should I?” I grew heated, all the anger coming back. “Give me one good reason, Ash.”

He held my gaze without blinking. “Me.”

“You?” I couldn’t keep the venom out of my voice. “What about you? I should ditch a nice guy so I can keep being your fuck buddy? What’s the point in that?”

“It’s pretty damn clear you’d rather be with me instead of him.”

His cockiness was usually endearing but now it was just irritating. “You’re such an ass.” I yanked my arm out of his grasp.

He grabbed me again. “Why go to him when you have me? I make you happy. I give you what you need. It doesn’t make any sense to go out with him. You really want some lame lawyer?”

“He’s a very nice guy.”

“Like you want a nice guy,” he barked. “You want me. Why else would you have slept with me for two days?”

I didn’t answer his question. “I’m not going to keep doing this, Ash. I need something more than a fuck buddy. I’m looking for a relationship, a long lasting one. This was fun while it lasted but it’s over. Let’s just walk away and move on.”

I Wish You Were Mine (Oxford, #2)
Book Title: I Wish You Were Mine
Series: Oxford 2
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Author: Lauren Layne
Purchase: AMAZON

Book Overview

Perfect for fans of Alice Clayton and Emma Chase, Lauren Layne’s Oxford series heats up in this story of forbidden desire as a brooding jock hoping for a comeback falls for a woman who’s strictly off-limits.

A year ago, Jackson Burke was married to the love of his life and playing quarterback for the Texas Redhawks. Now he’s retired, courtesy of the car accident that ruined his career—and single, after a nasty scandal torpedoed his marriage. Just as he’s starting to get used to his new life as a health and fitness columnist for Oxford magazine, his unpredictable ex shows up on his doorstep in Manhattan. Jackson should be thrilled. But he can’t stop thinking about the one person who’s always been there for him, the one girl he could never have: her younger sister.

Mollie Carrington can’t say no to Madison. After all, her older sister practically raised her. So when Madison begs for help in winning her ex-husband back, Mollie’s just glad she got over her own crush on Jackson ages ago—or so she thought. Because as Mollie reconnects with Jackson, she quickly forgets all her reasons to stay loyal to her sister. Tempted by Jackson’s mellow drawl and cowboy good looks, Mollie is sick and tired of coming in second place. But she can’t win if she doesn’t play the game.

My Review

*ARC Provided for an Honest Review*

Woah! What was I doing and why have I not read the first book in this series? I was like in the 15% stage of this book when I realized that I had made a mistake. But I wouldn't trade it for the world. This book just made my day and I could still feel the hearts in my eyes after reading the book.

I was not very keen on the storyline and I did had a doubt about me liking the book because, well, the storyline wasn't really my kind. I'm kind of relieved and kind of not that I took a chance on this though. Relieved because that was such a great romance. I loved both characters so much and I don't know why but I feel like saying, 'Right, that's just how it should be' after the conflict.

I was kind of not relieved because the book felt like too short for me. In my mind I kept on repeating that I'm really close to the end but my feeling weren't catching up. I just didn't approve of it ending yet but I really liked it and so I just accepted the fact that there was no more. This was not my first book from the author and it certainly won't be the last. Now I'm just going to clear a time to be able to read the first installment of this series!

“You seriously didn’t have to hire movers,” Mollie said for the hundredth time as she watched two burly dudes easily maneuver yet another stack of boxes to Jackson’s guest room.

Jackson pointed at a barstool. “Sit. Relax. Want a beer?”

“No, I still need to unpack,” she muttered, reluctantly plopping onto the stool.

“Have a beer, Molls. Unpacking your nightstand contents isn’t like operating heavy machinery,” he said, going to the fridge and pulling out two beers.

“Clearly you don’t know what’s in my nightstand.”

Jackson lifted his eyebrows. “Exactly how big is your vibrator?”

“I meant I have like a zillion books.”

“Which are not breakable,” he said, handing her a beer. “And is that a no on the vibrator?”

She gave him a look as she took the bottle from his hand. “I just want to state for the record that I have moved several times, on my own, without the help of movers, and I could have done it again.”

“Moving yourself is for college kids. You’re an adult. Hire movers.”

“No, moving yourself is for people without extra income,” she said. “Snob.”

“So what was the plan?” he asked, tipping the bottle to his lips. “You were just going to maneuver all those big-ass boxes around with those skinny sticks you call arms?”

“Don’t be silly. I was going to hire some big beefy dudes from campus to help me. Perk of working at a university.”

Jackson was about to set his bottle on the counter but his hand froze, just for a second, and Mollie felt a sting of regret as she realized she’d inadvertently hit a nerve. Not so long ago, Jackson Burke had been absolutely the type of muscled guy friend who’d’ve been really helpful to have around on moving day. Her eyes flitted to his shoulder. Now he was the guy who wouldn’t be doing any heavy lifting for a long time. Maybe ever.

She looked away, her brain scrambling to come up with a quick subject change.

Only maybe that wasn’t what he needed—for people to dance around his injury like it was the elephant in the room. Physically, he was on the road to recovery. He needed to get there mentally as well.

“You said the other night that it didn’t hurt,” she said. “Was that a big macho man moment?”

He stared at the counter. “I’ve told you. It’s fine.”

She rolled her eyes. “Please. Be a little more vague and manly.”

“Well, what do you want me to say, Molls?” he ground out. “That the pain wakes me up at night? That any motion more vigorous than brushing my teeth hurts like hell?”

“Are you going to physical therapy?” she asked, purposely ignoring the wounded-bear routine. That might scare off other people, but she was made of stronger stuff. Knew him better.

He looked away.

“Oh, Jackson.”

He shrugged. “What does it even matter? All the PT in the world isn’t going to help me play football again.”

“Well, gosh,” she said dramatically, “you may as well be dead.”

Jackson was in the process of taking a sip of beer and choked. “Jesus. You are such a smart-ass.”

“I’m just saying, you have a lot going for you,” she said, gentling her tone. “You don’t need a football in your hand or to help a girl move to be an amazing guy.”

“Yeah?” he said as he leaned on his forearms across the counter. “Want to tell me more about how I’m an amazing guy?”
If I did, I might never stop.

After tearing up the base paths with him, she finds herself with a little problem, and Bryce might be the only man who can save the game.

Bryce Baxter should be living the dream. His team just won the World Series and he just signed the multi-year contract of his career. But his field of dreams has been overtaken by a fiery redheaded reporter, who’s bearing a news flash that will change both of their lives forever…

My Review

*ARC Provided for an Honest Review*

I had expected the book would come out the way I was expecting it. The series has been great and I found myself enjoying the previous ones though it wasn't really that absolute bliss books it kept me entertained.

What I didn't see through my expectations was for Bryce to be too sweet. Honestly, it was too sweet and I loved him for it. I did expect him to man up and take care of Rachel but what he did was beyond the words 'take care'. I loved the chemistry. It felt like they didn't even need to try for the easy connections were the greatest.

4 stars for this great read and the series is all worth it!

Excerpt

Bryce Baxter sat alone in the San Francisco Goliaths’ clubhouse. He didn’t want to go home and watch the replays of tonight’s game. There was enough of that going on in his head. He’d blown the game. How many times had he made that play since he first picked up a baseball at the age of five? A thousand? Ten thousand? Probably more. Not tonight. Tonight it was as if he’d forgotten everything he knew about the game. What should have been an easy double play ended up being the game-winning run.

The loss put his team even farther behind in their division going into the second month of the season and had reporters questioning the Goliaths’ chances of repeating a World Series run. Some were even questioning the team’s decision to re-sign Baxter to the big contract extension. The biggest one he’d ever inked. So naturally, he was having his worst start to the season ever. He couldn’t hit. Couldn’t draw a walk to save his life. And when he struck out, he did it in spectacular fashion.

Last November he’d been king of the world. San Francisco’s biggest hero since Willie Mays. As World Series MVP, he’d been awarded a brand new Corvette. His face had been on the cover of magazines. He’d made the talk show rounds. Met the President. Women had lined up outside his door. And he’d had his choice of endorsement deals, including a line of men’s hair care products. Now, if his game didn’t improve, his agent would be lucky to get him a spot peddling adult diapers.

Reluctantly, he headed toward the parking lot.

“Hey, Bryce, you got a minute?” He recognized the voice of the woman standing beside his car. A month ago, he would have been happy to see her. Professionally, personally, a little bit of both. But not now.

“Look, Rachel, I’m not giving any more interviews tonight.” He was so down, all he wanted to do was go home and crawl into bed. Alone.

“I’m not here for an interview.” She would have waited in the clubhouse if she were. He knew that. Rachel Parker was a professional, the in-game reporter for Bay Area Sports Network. “Can we go somewhere? Somewhere private?”

“I’m not giving that tonight either.” He waited for his body to protest, recalling the dozen or so encounters with the sexy journalist. She’d been hot. Real hot. Hot enough for him to forget his rule of one and done. They’d been hooking up off the record since before spring training of last season.

“Look, I really do need to talk to you.” She seemed a little nervous, not her usual confident, perky, and always upbeat self who was part bubbly cheerleader, part hard-hitting reporter. She was still hot. But instead of smoking, she was…smoldering. His body stirred. Enough for him to think that maybe spending the next several hours in bed might not be such a bad idea.

But it probably wasn’t a good idea either.

The last time they’d hooked up had been intense. Almost too intense. Too real. But maybe he’d just been riding the high of signing his ridiculous contract. Or maybe he’d felt the pressure of the deal and had transferred it to his personal life. Something he could control.

“You know, I think maybe we should take a step back.” He raked a hand through his hair, still damp from his long shower after the game. “I’m not good for anyone right now.”

Rachel gave him a weird look, almost as if her eyes slipped out of focus. Her face drained of color. She turned and stumbled toward his car, bracing herself against the front fender. Then she threw up on the hood of his Corvette.

“Are you okay?” He took a step toward her.
“No, I’m not okay.” She wiped her mouth with the back of her hand. “I’m pregnant.”

My Review

*ARC Provided for an Honest Review*

I expected heavy drama and a bit Darkness from this book. Well, I got the heavy drama, still on the edge about the darkness and a whole new world of pity. I hated the pity. It went all through out the whole book. It's not even pity from the characters in the book that annoys me. It's my feeling of pity towards Ava.

As I've said, the pity, which is a whole new level, was felt by me all through out the book and I didn't even get the chance to say she's a brave and strong girl in the end because Ava is the weakest there is. This is where Lucas steps in, oh and the alpha moments were what I lived for in this book. Lucas has his story and I didn't like him sometimes for he is confusing but the thought of his character and the way he was portrayed being the man to stand up with Ava's character is perfect. I thought the pairing was perfect.

I was kind of lost sometimes with the characters for there were too many and well, I haven't read the other series. I distantly remember reading a book from Bella Jewel and I have to admit I didn't finish it. It was only one book. I don't know why I didn't finish the book but, yeah I don't remember. Gladly this one made me want to finish it. It made me want to get through the end and see what happens with the characters. I'm happy with the book, it wasn't too much and it was a good read!

Book Overview

I'm not a fighter.

I was born into a fighting family. As the middle child, I was overlooked in favor of my older brother.

He took the negative attention, too. In comparison, there's nothing special about me.

I’m not as big as Cobra. I’m not as strong as Cobra. He's the alpha.

I'm a beta.

The second son.

The lesser one.

The one never encouraged to fight, never encouraged to do anything, but stay out of my father’s way.

I'm not a lover either - but I wished to be – that’s why I needed her.

I met a girl in the pouring rain.

Sounds cliché, but it's true. It changed everything.

Because of love, I learned to fight.

Betas come second, but in this fight, my story is first.

My Review

*ARC Provided for an Honest Review*

I couldn't even explain how 5 star worthy this book is! I have loved every minute of it. I love the push and pull of both characters and I love how the story went on. I was so excited to get through almost the end because I could not contain the excitement I felt when I started reading the book -this to me is pretty rare. I just, I plainly loved the book.

Okay there is a slight thing that withered my excitement a bit but it was tolerable. It was the whole fiasco in Elma's mind. I was considering about decking her but she quickly learned so I see no need. Also, I would've wanted more action with Abel and his father but thank goodness it didn't came cause I was already annoyed by the majority of their meetings.

Bottom-line is, the book is worth the read and I would very much recommend it to anyone on my age who would listen. Congratulations to the author for writing such an incredible as a start of what I feel like a wonderful series!

Excerpt

If I thought I was going to make a speedy getaway, I was wrong. My savior caught up to me, half way down the walk, outside the finance building. He was quick and a large hand wrapped around my upper arm.

“Whoa, sister,” he said, slightly out of breath. “You almost got away from me again.”

“What?” I questioned. I had no idea what he meant: again.

“Never mind,” he muttered, his hand still on me. I looked down at it and he immediately released me. My eyes pinched as I realized I didn’t mind his hand on my skin. There was something nonthreatening about him. He seemed rather innocent, studious, actually. His shirt was buttoned almost to the top and tucked into his pants. The sleeves secure at the cuffs. His jeans were snug and hugged him well. He wore dark rimmed glasses that screamed smart. Brown boots looked too new on his large feet. It was like he had the right parts but the wrong combination.

His blue eyes were soft and easy to look into. They practically spoke to me, but I had no idea what he was saying. His dark hair was disheveled, a bit shaggy, but cool looking. He kind of looked like a pop star, which was a little too sugar sweet for me. His form was questionable. It was hard to tell what kind of body he had under those clothes. He looked rather preppy, like half the guys at this university. I didn’t want to think about it. I’d just sold my soul for another semester.

“So when do you want to do this?” I asked. His blank stare told me he had no idea what I meant.

“Us,” I said, pointing between him and me.

“I…” His voice trailed off as he gawked at me. His expression changed from confusion to shock.

“I didn’t buy you to sleep with you,” he said, a touch of disbelief in his voice. His face turned crimson, then fell. “Why, have you done that before?” It was my turn to be surprised and offended.

I turned on my heels and began stomping away from him. He was too quick and he caught me again. His hand on my arm halted me. This time he didn’t release me when I peered down at his fingers wrapped around my bicep.

“Look. I need help,” he blurted. His face pinked a little, and it was sweet. “I don’t need help with sex. I need help with before.” His tone dropped, and he looked side to side to see if anyone would hear him. I took his meaning.

“You don’t know how to do foreplay?” I questioned in a loud whisper, trying to hide my astonishment. How could anyone have sex and not know a touch of foreplay?

His face pinked again.

“Not that,” he said, sounding like a child. “The flirting. The dating. The…other stuff.”

I was stunned. I stared at him, taking in his features again. He was kind of cute, leaning toward the potential for good looking. He couldn’t possibly need help with this request. The confusion on my face made him speak.

“I don’t know how to flirt.” The words swirled between us.

“I don’t understand.” I didn’t. I didn’t know what he wanted from me.

“I need lessons how to be…cool: with girls. Call it a tutoring session. I need to learn how to be…seen.” His voice took on a touch of sadness. He couldn’t possibly be serious. I continued to stare at him. My mouth might have actually dropped open a bit, and I noticed he was watching my lips. It was a little exciting the way he stared at them. I licked them and his pupils dilated, filling in more black over the blue. His expression changed. Knowingly, he blinked when he realized I was teasing him. His lip quirked up and a dimple showed in his cheek.

“I need to date you,” he blurted. “To learn how to do, what you just did to me.”

My Review

*ARC Provided for an Honest Review*

I enjoyed the book for the most parts. There were some times that it was dragging as it carried on but my overall conclusion when I finished reading it was that it was a Great Read.

Also, it was like an obvious love story that's why I liked it. There were already signs that they should be together and when the death of Michaela's sister and her husband, it was even more obvious that fate really wants them together and I liked that. What I didn't like though is the hold backs of the characters. There were a lot of assumptions that I just don't see why. This made the book a little dragging for me.

The book went really well until that drama towards the end. Even I wasn't anticipating such but it happened. I remember thinking something like "Whoa really?" while I was reading the last few chapters but I am a sucker for a happy ending and I am even more of a sucker for second chance romance so I took this book quiet well when it ended. I'm so looking forward to the next installment of the series!
Excerpt

“Okay.” Michaela breathed the word.

“You’ll marry me?” Gabe didn’t bother hiding his surprise.

She drained her glass with a wince. “Damn, I’ve never liked champagne.” Michaela headed for the fridge. “Do you have any beer in here?”

He was more uncertain now than he’d been before he started thinking about this crazy idea. “Yeah. Lone Star. Get me one, too.” When she turned with the longneck bottles in hand, he chuckled. “A two hundred dollar bottle of fine French bubbly, but we’d rather drink Texas beer.”

“I’m a country girl, Gabe. You’ve always known that.” She handed him one of the

bottles. “I’ve actually been thinking the same thing--that if I were married the judge would’ve given me Jesse. But the only man I can think of is Cash Nelson.” She twisted the top off the beer and took a long draw. “But he would read too much into the agreement. I never considered you. Hell, the whole town knows I can’t even stand you. How is this gonna work?”

Gabe didn’t like the way his heart pinched at her words. He tossed the cap from his beer beside hers on the island top and took a drink. “We’ll have to convince them otherwise. We have a history and we’ve been working together”--he grinned as he remembered the custody hearing-- “or against each other for weeks now. Everyone knows there’s a fine line between love and hate.”

My Review

Okay, I would just like to point out that I was not expecting this book to be a cliff-hang. Yes it was sexy, it was fun, it was hot and the sex was without a doubt... I loved it. I just couldn't face the fact that I was soo down for that HEA and well of course I know I'd get that Happily Ever After. Eventually. But, I was getting on the good parts and I literally screamed when I read the words "To be continued" I was like, no nooooo. But the 26th isn't too far I guess.

The Story-line is funny and the characters are funny. I can't even decide which of the two has the easiest actions to read because I swear to gosh the confusion I felt towards Kenny is, well, confusing and with Hunter he is like a whole new level. What I absolutely love though is the fact that their attraction is too much for them to handle that sometimes it was also too much for me because I could feel the anticipation rising from me when their anticipation towards each other arises too. In short, I connected with it a whole lot.

This book is Definitely Recommendable to anyone who is looking for that hot and sexy read. When I first started reading it I kept on smiling and then the excitement starts building and up until now I could still feel that excitement. I even doubt this excitement would whether if I don't get my hands on the next book.

“Maybe we should go back.”

I shook my head. “Maybe we can sneak around. Seems like there wouldn’t be any fans back here.”

“Famous last words,” she muttered.

I strode out, gravel crunching under my boots.

“You know, I’m not a huge fan of this dragging me around like a child.”

I turned back to her, dragging her into my body. “Nothing child-like about you, Kenny.” I bent down to her, our noses touching. “I just want a little alone time with you.”

A loud engine started up.

“There’s an elevator back there.” She pointed with her thumb. “I bet we could do a lot of things in your room, my room—whatever.” She rose on her toes until our lips were a breath apart. “You can give that whole seven thing a go.” She dragged her nail over my bottom lip. “I don’t believe you’ll make it to seven, but I’m willing to let you try.”

“I—”

“Oh, my God, that’s Hunter!”

The hiss of hydraulics and stomp of many feet did not bode well.

I closed my eyes. “Shit.”

“What?”

“Please don’t be what I think it is.”

“What?”

A trio of people in black shirts with our new album on the front were standing in front of a huge bus. “Can you run in those things?”

She looked affronted. “I can do anything in heels.”

“I hope so.”

A woman in her twenties pointed our way. “Is that him?” she shrieked.

“Fan club.”

“What?”

“This is where the fan club bus is parked.”

“They should be at dinner. Why aren’t they at dinner?” Kenny asked with rising panic.

“Guess it’s over.” I sprinted to the door we’d just come out of. “Son of a bitch.” I twisted the handle but nothing. “It must have locked after us.”

She slapped the keypad. “Ya think?”

“Not helping.” I darted a look past the bus, along with the line of at least seventy people lined up to board. Definitely couldn’t go that way.

“They’ll eat you alive.”

“No kidding.”

Three women broke off from the crowd and headed our way. As soon as they did, twenty more followed. I dragged Kenny with me to the front of the bus and around the side. The bus driver looked down at us and shook his head.

No help there.

The people that had boarded the bus were pointing at us as we ran to the other end. I shot by another line of cars and zig-zagged around another bus and saw a familiar logo. “Thank God.”

“Where did he go?” Came shouts that were way too close.

“Where are we going?” she hissed.

“My bus.”

“Your bus?”

I dragged her behind me as I ducked behind a black truck we used for our equipment. It has been a stripped down stage, but we still had a lot of instruments between Keys’s pianos, the entire percussion set up that Wyatt used, all the guitars, amps, and digital network we used—we needed a truck no matter what.

“New plan.” I unlatched the back of the rig and lifted the rolling door. “Get in.”

“Are you freaking kidding me?”

I stared down at her. “Does it look like I’m kidding?”

She groaned. “I can’t get up there.”

I lifted her until her knee was on the base of the truck ledge. She scrambled in as the scraping of heels and running feet got closer.

“Move it, Kenny.”

Her skirt rode up as she dragged herself inside. I threw her a soft whistle. She turned back to me with murder in her eyes. I squashed down a laugh, rolling in after her, tugging the door down behind me with a bang.

“I hate you.”

I just smiled into the dark.

My Review

*ARC Provided for an Honest Review*

This is like a feeling of Love finally happening in the best ways possible. Erotic and unexpected. Honestly I haven't even gotten to the "good parts" but everything actually felt so good.

I have never ready any of KD's books before but I'm just going to say this, KD in this short novel, you have put me through the same sexual energy as your characters and if that doesn't speak out about the kind of author you are, I don't know what will.

Jerry and Autum were really really hot and they too had the hots for each other. If this was a long ass novel I don't know if I could shoulder the fact that their agony of being at a distance with each other, I just, I don't think it will be a pleasant wait.

Definitely recommended for anyone who wants to read a short erotica. And please do make sure you are prepared, if you do decide to read this.

My Review

*ARC Provided for an Honest Review*

It was a great come back after the recent books I've read. I could definitely feel the chemistry of the characters were undeniable but I have to admit that it wasn't so special when it comes to the story line.

The author definitely delivered well and both the characters were bearable. Sebastian and Ava are one of those career devoted persons and their resistance to be together because of said fact is just too much to handle.

Why not 5 stars? Hmmm. I thought it was an easy read really, not too bombing and not too boring either. I definitely connected with the characters, yes. I also loved every scene but sometimes I could actually feel myself withdrawing from the book. Anyways, all those aside, This book is totally worth the read and I would recommend it to anyone. After all, Sebastian's type are my types of guys, maybe that was why I liked the characters so much.

I am definitely looking forward to the next installments. I have a feeling I'll love the next book.

Their paths kept crossing, but soon they were in too deep, each with their own deception. Would it be too late to come clean and salvage what they each sought or has the damage been done?

My Review

*ARC Provided for an Honest Review*

Why is it that every time a person doesn't like you, you feel the need to give them something so that they will eventually like you? From being someone whom she tries to avoid she became his obsession. I found it funny at first and then all of the sudden it became cute. This was like a quick and fun read. Mistaken identity. That's something that the book poses that's why I found it so amusing and enjoyable.

There is no doubt about the chemistry that these two has, I mean they were literally feeling some intense issues before they engage with each other. For a fast paced book, the characters sure did matured just as fast. I wasn't very keen on both personalities when I started the book but it has gotten better. They've become more open but I have to be honest, I actually thought the book was going somewhere else other than what was written. I genuinely enjoyed the book and for a first read from Eve Newton it wasn't so bad.

My Review

*ARC Provided for an Honest Review*

At first I was so not planning on taking a risk on this one because it has a storyline that I was just starting to open to but then I thought better and said I'll take a chance. I'm glad I did. I liked it because it was somewhat what I expected to be but it wasn't too much to handle. The only thing that I didn't like much is Erynn.

Don't get me wrong, I liked her character but sometimes I feel like she's too confusing. Even I don't get her when most of the time it's the heroine who is easy to get along with. The constant push and pull with herself and the confusing mood swings were a little too much. I liked how it ended though. Grant was such a great guy on my view. I admit, I was irritated at first because his intentions on bringing Erynn back to his life was selfish and cruel but as the story got along he was more tolerable.

It wasn't mega but it wasn't bad either. I liked the book just fine and I thank the heavens that I took a risk at reading this.

Excerpt

He stood in front of his desk, tension radiating from the ri-gidity of his shoulders when he asked in a rough voice, “What’s his name?” At the change in Grant’s voice, Brewster sat up on his bed and glanced back and forth between them.

“Avery.”

“You love him?”

She turned to him, hoping he would get the point when she said, “I do.”

She saw it. The flash of hurt before he masked it. “So it’s se-rious?”

“We own a home together.”

He shook his head. “That’s not an answer.”

She held her hands up, palms out. “It’s the only one I have.”

He stalked her, a predatory gleam in his eye. She knew the look—in the right situation, that look alone could get her half-way to a mind-shattering orgasm. Something she hadn’t experi-enced since him. Talk about the wrong time to acknowledge that only he had the power to turn her inside out with pleasure, almost to the point of pain.

“And what about us?”

Her heart tumbled in her chest. She held eye contact. She needed him to understand. So that no matter how close he got, no matter what he did, she would not back down. “There is no us.”

“We kissed,” he whispered. His eyes locked on her mouth. She struggled to keep still and not squirm under his intense stare.

“You kissed me. There’s a difference.”

“You kissed me back.” He laughed without humor. “There’s something. At some point, we’ll have to address it.”

She took a deep breath and tried another tactic. “Aren’t you seeing someone? I mean, you went somewhere Saturday night, a sleepover.”

He smirked at her. “I see someone.”

“So it’s not serious?” The words were out before she thought about what she had done, and his smile grew. She’d showed an interest. She’d screwed up, and his smug expression said he was celebrating his victory.

“I don’t do serious.”

His tone invited no argument, but the reporter in her wanted to know. So did the woman. “Why?”

“I just don’t.”

It was her turn to smirk at him. “Now who’s full of it?”

“Don’t,” he bit out.

“Can’t handle it?”

With surprising speed, he spun toward her. He leaned his face within inches of hers, the muscle along his jaw jumping. “Can you, Erynn? Can you handle it?”

“Absolutely.” She stood her ground, leaning toward him with almost as much aggression as he’d leveled at her.

“I don’t do serious because—” He closed his eyes, and when he opened them again she saw more agony in those their depths than she thought possible. “I’ll never give another woman enough of me that she has the power to gut me when she walks away. Not. Ever. Again.”

My Review

*ARC Provided for an Honest Review*

I have not read anything from the author before and I have not read the previous books in the series but that fact did not stop me from reading this one. That fact did not stop me from shedding a tear for the book. I don't know why but plots like this always grip my heart and always always makes me love the reuniting part. Add the fact that this is an MC, well, let's just say I was in too deep.

Jet and Flick's pairing is something that is really like a match made. I mean, with Jet being a coward and all because he was too full of himself he let the love of his go while Flick, the chick who is obviously stronger than anyone, just didn't know how much she had missed everything and everyone when she decided to leave her past behind.

I see that there were some things and some characters that were featured in the book and I thought that is where I'll officially lost it and not know what's coming next because of the fact that I did not read the previous books in the series but, it wasn't. You know that feeling when you hate yourself because you read a book and you did not read the previous books of it? That is exactly what I feel. This book has the full package. It has the intensity, the big moments and the right amount of emotions that I did not have a doubt giving this book the perfect stars it deserves. Despite the Alpha moments that Jet had, I have to admit, I loved him very much through out the book no matter how dumb he was.

Book Title: Waiting for Wyatt
Genre: Contemporary Romance/New Adult

Book Overview

“The dogs that deserved a chance, the guy who needed a second, and the girl determined to save him.”

My name is Emma Sawyer.

I met Charlie and Wyatt on the same sultry, summer day. It was unexpected, leaving a feeling in the pit of my stomach like the time I drove too fast over Beckett Hill. The moment happened out of nowhere, all fast and quick and a little strange. Or maybe that was just Wyatt’s personality.

It was Charlie that brought us together. Little Charlie with those ridiculous ears. I found the dog, waiting in a pool of his own blood. Waiting for someone. Waiting for me.

Now Wyatt, he wasn’t waiting for anyone. At least that’s what he said, except I saw something different in the broken guy all alone out in the woods. I knew he needed me before he knew it himself.

Wyatt with his hidden dimples. Wyatt with his warnings to stay away. He was a hard lump of coal, ready to burn everything around him. The more he burned, the more it pulled me into the pain I saw etched on his troubled face.

I wanted to help Wyatt. I wanted to save him like he had saved all the Charlies in the world. He told me not to fall for him, but I did anyway. I fell hard and fast and deeply in love with Wyatt Caulfield.

But that was before I knew his secret.

Author Note: Waiting for Wyatt is the love story of Wyatt Caulfield and Emma Sawyer, which also features rescue animals. It’s a 112,000 word standalone, Contemporary Romance / New Adult Novel.

My Review

*ARC Provided for an Honest Review*

While reading the book I always felt like there is this constant nagging on my chest that makes me want to just continue flipping the pages because I have this feeling that everything is going to be unexpected. What I really loved is Wyatt's mystery and how even through his tough image he was so so sweet to Emma.

The characters really did a number on me. The story wasn't too heavy or anything but it was definitely unexpected. I did not expect Wyatt's story to be so sad, I mean I thought it was going to be tough but I did not expect it to be anything more than that. This is definitely one of the stories that I would remember for it did not only gave me the lesson of forgiving ones self but it has also made my view of second chance at life to be so much clearer. Honestly, romance aside, this book has given me something to think about whenever I feel like I'm too damage for anyone.

I definitely loved it and this was really a great read for me. Worth it.

Book Overview

Evelyn

I pray to be forgiven for my sins, but the prayers of someone like me won't dare breach the edge of heaven.

Sins. All sins are equal in the eyes of God, but I'm not God. Some sins are far more wretched than others. And those sinners should pay, Evelyn. One sinner made me his sin, and I can't let men like him live. They must face their judgement, Evelyn. I want to kill them. Every. Last. One.

Ezra James is no different, and I wanted to kill him, I needed to kill him, I'm was going to kill him...And then I found myself fascinated by him, obsessed and possessed in the most reverent of ways. I became his sinner, and he became my sin, but the wages of sin is death, so I must kill him.

Ezra

The son of a whore, raised by gangsters, moulded into a key player in a corrupt world ruled by money and completely without morals.

This world can break a person. I’ve seen it time and time again. I never gave a shit, until the night I watched a man drop dead at the feet of a woman so broken she made even me feel whole. My little killer called to my depravity and everything in me demanded that I take her, possess her, own her.

Some monsters hide behind the faces of angels, where others stand in plain sight.

Damned. Broken. Irredeemable.

Through blood, absolution shall be found.

My Review

*ARC Provided for an Honest Review*

I don't even know how to feel right now. I'm telling you, please read the note's and warnings. You have to believe me when I say this was absolutely not what I was expecting. Of course I expected it to be dark and rough but the world that I stepped in to when I started reading the book is like a different dimension. I am still not over it until now, and it's been hours since I've read it.

I could not even begin to tell you how fucked up Ezra and Evie's lives are. Fucked up but they manage to live. At one point I even concluded that these aren't people. These are scary as F monsters. I have never read anything as dark as this book before and it made me realize how scary love and obsession can be. It was not all about cuteness and it wasn't all about the intensity of love, it was all about control, boundaries, a kind of satisfaction and obsession.

WHEN you read the book, please remember to be open minded. I am not even sure how I managed to write this review but I am sure that my open-mindedness and curiosity got me through the end of the book. I have to be honest, I skipped some parts because I just couldn't take it but I braved the rest of it and the feeling that I got to finish a book as meaningful and as great as this made me pretty effing satisfied with myself. It was worth the read! I've read books from these authors before and I could honestly say that they do not disappoint! They deliver perfectly and I love them for that.

My Review

*ARC Provided for an Honest Review*

I fell in love with the book description. By the time I was on the first few chapters I was in deep. The beginning was absolutely perfect that I got sucked by it and I thought this book was going to be good I have to carry on and I carry on I did, asap.

Kate and Gavin's first few chapters were quiet cute, add the fact that Gavin's like a big alpha male and everything for me was perfectly in place. Then it was about a few chapters ahead that everything started to feel different for me. The conflicts gave me headache. Literally. I wasn't expecting so many troubles from this book but every time the book heads up a chapter it was slowly becoming like a drama movie. I am not just talking about the story, I am talking about the characters. Both are slightly immature. I mean, Kate is not very well acquainted with relationships and Gavin is very much acting like a sixteen year old around Kate, towards the end, their relationship just got a little more confusing for me.

I still love the book description and I loved the plot very much. The thing that was off for me were the things that I did not quiet get. The way the characters were towards each other is somewhat like a behavior of teens not very mature-ish or at least not how a father should act. I liked it, enjoyed it but yeah I did hesitate to give this 4 stars but decided that it was worth it.

My Review

*ARC Provided for an Honest Review*

I loved it. It was a perfect book at a perfect time. After reading books that are somewhat intense in sense, this book was like a huge exhale. This was the book I read when I decided that okay, I need to read something light and cute and I just had that feeling that L is for Luminous would fit the bill. And it did.

The friend-zone part is what hit me the most. I keep thinking through the times when Lux was like this little seed when she first met Jude and then all of the sudden she was this blossoming flower because of the simple fact that someone took a chance on her. Before I even got through the best parts I already felt how awful Lux's life was. It was so sad and at some point depressing. She's so used to belittle herself that she didn't even understand and know how much valuable she is. Then there is Jude. The dumb and blind star who views love seriously unlike any other guy but he just couldn't see love when it was in front of him.

The quiet happenings and the self pity was the thing that slightly got me unsure about how I'd rate the book. When it comes down to it, the love and true appreciation was all over the characters. How they were individually is what loved most. Lux pushing herself and starting to believe in her capabilities more is what inspired me until the end. I enjoyed it. I had high hopes for this book and thank goodness the book lived up to my expectations.

Excerpt

Outside, the air was cool, so I pulled my biker jacket on and flipped up the collar.

“Hey.”

I turned at the sound of Jude’s voice. He was leaning up against the wall, his phone in his hand, his gaze firmly on mine. I could still feel the ghost of his body pressed against mine, and I shivered, sinking deeper into my jacket.

“Hey, yourself,” I threw back.

“Are you leaving?” he asked, clearly disappointed, and I wondered if a little dance was all it took to get him going.

“Yeah,” I said with a shrug. “I’ve had enough excitement for one night.” And enough threats from your ex-girlfriend to last a lifetime.

He pushed off the wall. “You’re going home?”

“Yep.”

“I’ll walk you,” he said.

“No, it’s okay,” I said, backing away. “Stay at the party. It’s only a couple of blocks.”

“A lot can happen in a couple of blocks,” he said, narrowing his eyes. He stepped forward, wavering on his feet.

“Exactly how much have you had to drink since I left you in there?” I asked in amusement.

“I’m not drunk,” he complained. “But you are.”

“Am not,” I lied. Well, I’d reverted to tipsy after Tessa had sobered me up with her bitchy presence. I put my hands on my hips. “I bet you a hundred bucks you can’t walk in a straight line.”

“Only a hundred? I think we can do better than that.”

“You’re a cocky bastard, Jude Atwood.”

“And she swears like an angel,” he slurred.

“I think I should be walking you home,” I retorted.

“Now there’s an idea…”

I flushed scarlet, my entire body beginning to zing. “So you don’t fall in a gutter and wake up with your shame all over TMZ, jerk.”

He waved his hand at me. “I’m still walking you home. The air will sober me up a bit.”

“Ha! So you are drunk.”

He held up his hand and pinched his thumb and forefinger together. “Perhaps a little.”

I shook my head and began walking, Jude falling into step beside me.

“How did you like the party?” he asked.

I could still feel his body pressed against mine, moving to the music. So close to kissing and throwing everything away.

“It was okay,” I muttered.

“You’re a good dancer,” he said, giving me a wink.

I rolled my eyes and glanced away so he couldn’t see the heat in my cheeks. I wasn’t sure it was necessary considering he was a little loose, but it was like a default reaction. You know, like a reflex.

Stopping at an intersection, my mind went back to the moment Tessa shoved her phone in my face and almost bitch-slapped me to the ground. Bloody hell, why should I care what Tessa Donahue thought? Maybe I should care a little if I wanted to have my contract renewed. I hadn’t thought about anything beyond this season of the show. Did I want to come back for another year? Did I want to continue living in this spiral of one-sided lust and heartbreak?

“What are you doing?” Jude asked. He’d gotten to the middle of the road and had come back again. He wound his arm around my waist and guided me across the street.

“Nothing,” I muttered. “I was just thinking.”

“About?”

I shook my head. “Stuff.”

We walked in silence after that, and he didn’t let me go until we stood out the front of my block. Unlocking the door, I was gently nudged to the side, and my heart began to speed up.

“What are you doing?” I asked as he stepped into the tiny lobby.

“I’m walking you to your door,” he declared.

“This is my door.”

He narrowed his eyes and pushed the button for the elevator. “That’s everyone’s door.”

“So specific,” I retorted as the car arrived.

Stepping into the elevator, he sidled up next to me, making the synapses in my brain misfire.

“You don’t have to come all the way,” I said.

Jude grunted, his eyes on the display above the door. His fingers were worrying the hem of his shirt, and it began to dawn on me that he was nervous. I thought he was drunk? Maybe he was a bit of both. Maybe I was misreading the situation.

The elevator arrived at my floor with a ding, and we walked down the hall to my apartment. Unlocking the door, I turned to Jude.

“Safe and sound,” I declared, edging inside.

He narrowed his eyes and swallowed hard. “Yep.”

We stood there staring at each other like idiots, the air feeling thick. As thick as it had when we were dancing earlier.

Then he stepped forward, a hungry look in his eyes, and I stepped back, moving into my apartment.

Everything that happened in the next second was like I was living in someone else’s life. A dream, a fantasy, a parallel universe.

His mouth was on my lips before I realized what was happening, and I stumbled backward until I hit the wall. I gasped in surprise, and his tongue dove greedily against mine, the lingering tang of alcohol mixing with his taste, the taste that said he was Jude.

His hands shoved into my hair, and he held me firm, his entire body pressing hard against mine. His lips were soft, the stubble that always coated his jaw rasped against my skin…and I kissed him back. I gave him everything I’d been holding onto since the day we met. It rushed out of me like a force of nature that couldn’t be tamed. Like a tsunami, a hurricane, a lightning storm, a raging bushfire, the extinction level atomic blast of a gigantic meteor hitting the earth…

I was alive.

Alive and coursing with reckless abandon.

“Lux,” he moaned against my lips.

So wild, so uncontrollable… Everything ached so much I could hardly bear it.

“Jude.”

He moved his lips to my neck, kissing a trail of fire along my skin as his hands stroked the curve of my back. My entire body spoke to his, pushing into his touch, guiding his movements, wanting and needing more with an intensity that had me spinning out of control.

I had no idea… No idea at all.

Thank you for visiting BarelyBae, I've had this blog since I was 17 and over the years, I've read my fair share of good books and then bad so, to help everyone who needs it, I will put up only 100% unbiased reviews. Also, to all readers, we absolutely don't have to read all the books there are in a series. and we should Rate/Review according to how we feel not because we feel obliged to give such a rating. Also, follow me on Goodreads, I'm very active there. *winks*

Disclaimer

I'm mostly going to post photos that aren't mines (some I have edited and added text) and get them from Google, Tumblr, Pin or wherever else but rest assured that I will be giving courtesy to those sources. Even if I couldn't do it directly to the page/person who posted it, I'm surely going to link it. So, if you see photos that are yours and you want me to take it down or you want the credit linked directly to your blog/name you can contact me and we'll mend it.
